ABOUT

We're on a mission to figure out how to make learning about and mastering tech skills a fun and rewarding experience for "tech ninjas" of all ages.

Let's make this simple -- your kids probably know more about tech stuff than you do.  Even the littlest tykes know how to work an iPhone or tablet, because it's been part of their lives for...well, their whole lives!

Kids tend to know a lot about how to get to their favorite games or apps, but we find that when it comes to the "hows and whys" of mainstream computer functions or programs, they get a little lost.  They grow up knowing exactly how to get to YouTube without understanding the basic functions of a URL, a search engine, or office programs like Microsoft Word.

This website is a collaboration between a teacher and her amazing students to celebrate our discoveries, share our successes, and help make sure you can "fill in the holes" in your student's (or your own) tech education.  Here, we will post resources and ideas, tools, and showcase student work that can help your kids make sense of the cyber world and stuff they'll need to get them through college.

From posters advocating against cyber bullying to blog posts and digital art, check out the many Tech Bits from the classroom and students of Mrs. Cragun.  See you around!

Internet Safety

Did you know that most children spend several hours of their day online?  Because of all the time spent on the computer -- for pleasure, for research, or otherwise -- it is essential to teach your students how to be safe and smart online.

They need to know how to recognize things, from cyberbullying, to inappropriate images, to possible threats to their personal information.  In order for them to learn these things, they need a guide standing next to them, to point things out and have meaningful discussion about it.

This is a very important topic, and is something that will never go away.  Internet use by children of any age will likely only continue to grow, as schools and homes utilize it for many reasons.  Stay up with our "Tech Tips" tab for internet safety tidbits you should keep in mind.

Encourage them to Rise Above.
